hi evryone my very pig headed fella has been having trouble with his car for a couple of weeks he has an s reg 1.9 tdi its been rattling for two weeks sounding like a bus when it starts up, he kept telling me it was becouse it was a diesel!!
This morning it was so loud that he couldent get to work and there is now blue smoke coming out the exhaust when he starts it, i myself think the cars terminal but he loves this car and i think he dosent want to take it garage becouse he,s scared it wont come out. the noise is like a really loud rattling sound and seems to be coming from the right side of the bonnet as you,r facing the front of the car. is there any hope for his baby? any help would be great as i,m getting a bit tired of him walkin round like a bear with a sore head!! cheers jo

Welcome to MVS.
I would say to take it in... if he can't work on it.
It could be anything from a bad exhaust (needs a new one or something is broken- thus the rattle) to a bad catalytic converter... I don't know anything about diesels, but don't they clog things in the exhaust and have to be periodically cleaned?
