98 XC Questions

I am going to go look at a 98 XC for my wife, it has 74k on it, what are the key things I should look for on these. I can do all of the basic inspections but what were 98's famous for breaking? Thanks

The XC's are infamous for axle problems. Make sure the CV boots are in good shape and that you get no noise from the axle. Also, check for rear main seal leaks. Otherwise, '98 is a good year b/c there is no $1000 ETS problem associated with them.

Thanks for your input, unfortunately it sold before I could get to it. It had 74k miles and went for $6,500. Seemed like a good deal.
