1997 850 Alternator/Radio Question

So after removing my alternator, I found the reason why my check engine light has been on for years. I had a fuel mixture too rich code. I found that the vacuum tube that goes into the side of the engine near the alternator was melted in half. The only problem is I don't know where the other end goes. I pulled on it and it came out. Seems like it would be difficult to put back in as the other end came from behind the headers in the front of the engine.

That elbow is a constant PITA. I used some small zip ties to secure it but I don't trust it.

I have read that you can just get some vacuum line and tie it from the nipple on the intake to an open port on the vacuum tree. Since my zip ties are still working I have not yet tried it.

Will connecting it to the vacuum tree provide the same action that the other end of the vacuum line had? That seems like my only option right now as I can't for the life of me find where the other end of the line goes. Luckily, the existing vacuum line will reach the vacuum tree from the side of the engine and there are plenty of slots open. I just have to get a new elbow.
