I have been looking for this "Project" car for 2 yrs.
It was "Flash flooded" 6 wks. ago and I happened upon it just posted on Craigslist.
Called and asked them to drop the post and I would be there in a day.
780 mi. & $800.00 later, and here we are %^)

I can't decide if I'm envious or glad that I'm not you :?

Apparently you have a lot more spare time than I do

You already started with the pictures, but keep it up and keep us posted on how the project goes.

I've never seen a T5R with a trailer hitch. At that price even if it doesn't work out you can recoup a lot of the money on the Volans alone.

Did you get the engine pickled?

Awsome project. Deffinently looks like it spent a few hrs in the drink, but with some TLC you'll never be able to tell.
So, what exactly are your plans for the old girl? Manuel transmission and a remapped ecu? Or is it just more of a restoration project?
Either way looks like a fun project.
good luck

Time. It never stops, tic, tic, tic........
It's Time management that is the key.
If you do what you love, the money will come. And if you are blessed w/ that opportunity, you're half way to Nirvana.
I am at my Zen when I'm in the process. Never satisfied w/ completion as what we learn during the process educates us to be better than when we started. And nothing is ever complete.
Perfect has kept me up many nites. I have excepted that perfect is just a word.
And when Human is involved.........

That is pretty deep! But I will have to say that I agree with you, to a certain degree.
Actually I agree with you about everythijng except that "if you do what you love, the money will come" I think thats only true if what you love is profitable. Alot of people just do what they have to do, not what they love. But it's deffinently more rewarding to be initiating a plan then to finish.
now, all that aside what are your plans for your new 850?

We don't always get what we want. You provide what you need.
If "nickel's" make you happy , then go get nickels. 20 of them makes a dollar everyday.
To profit from your passion is easily attainable. And to do it for the "Love of the Game" makes it even more gratifying.
It's not about the money, it's about contributing to the Tribe.
And truly the "reward" is the Gift. With no expectations.

We'll talk about the "T" when I'm sure on how many nickels I'll need to acquire.

Peace,
Anfranco

OK, here's were I'm at.
Was definitely premature with the removal of the interior.
I was so concerned w/ mold and restoration of seats and such, that I completely over looked purging all the "badness" from the engine and trans.
"Ozark" advised me to run her and flush everything for a Pickling, and when the "Ozark" speaks, well......
Inside cabin is clean and dry. Took her down to metal and sprayed 4 cans of WD-40, then meticulously wiped her out. Will hand wash w/ disinfectant & hang an Air freshener on the rear view.
Now trying to get her started again to flush mechanicals. Have reinstalled Dash, have good contact and all seams correct, but No Joy @ starter. Have jumped selinoid, but no bendix engagement.
Will pull starter, verify and replace if needed.
I have decided to go "All the Way" w/ this bitc%.
Want 400+ hp to Comfortably Go Fast.
She will go down to all sub-assemblies, down to components, assessed and brought back as a Monster.
This stater thing has my buggered.
Please advise on Auto vs. Manual trans, as I would like my Wife to enjoy her, but don't want to burn up a gear box of rubber bands.
A little more body work needed than I wanted to get into, but I must take her to the Promise Land.
Your prays are appreciated.
Get down w/ the Sickness

What an undertaking!
I've always thought that if the engine took in water (from tail pipe, etc.) isn't it toast, or am I wrong?
