Hey everyone, thanks in advance for reading this.
I am about to embark into a few repairs on a 2001 S80 Non-Turbo and wanted some feedback.
1. AC compressor quits working fter the car gets warm. I am going to check the charge level and see if the cabin air filter is plugged (as they had no idea it has one) to see if the evap is freezing over or not getting enough airflow causing the pressure to go too high and turning it off. Worst case is it needs a new clutch because the gap gets too large when hot.
2. Shift interlock solenoid won't let it out of Park. Someone else disconnected it a while ago so it could be driven (however it has a warning message on the dash for this). I will have to figure out if it is actually the solenoid or the component energizing it (dual circuit brake switch?).
3. A squeak noise right under the steering wheel. My S70 does this and I have no idea what it is.
4. Reset the maintenance light. Should be one I can do myself righ?
Any tips for any of these repairs? I am just a guy working on friends cars out of his garage.

I also have a similar AC problem on a 2000 S70 non-turbo. The AC loses its steam after about 20-25 minutes. Sometimes turning it off for a few minutes fixes it for a while, as does restarting the car. The problem seems to happen when sitting in traffic/driving under 40 (after 20-25 minutes every time). When it gives out, there is no noticable difference in fan speed. The air just becomes humid.
A mechanic thought it was a problem with the ac switch in the compressor and bypassed the switch but the problem persists.
Anyone gone through this and found a solution?

I was thinking that maybe the HVAC Filter is plugged but haven't had the car yet to inspect (owner had no idea there was a filter). Lack of airflow may be causing EVAP core to freeze up. Or it is the excessive gap on the AC clutch deal.
I have read that if you turn the car and AC on, and carefully take a broomstick and push the clutch in on the compressor and it engages and works, you have an excessive gap on the AC clutch.
I will check AC charge first when I get the car Sunday. Stay tuned.
I currently have a 1999 S80 T6 at my house that blew a heater core all over the driver and passenger floors. Luckilly the water pump has been leaking long enough that all that was in there was pure water
I was thinking it could be the o-rings, but then the water would only be ont the driver side, correct?
Now my Saturday will be reaplcing a water pump, timing belt, heater core by-pass (poor cheap owner) and Bank1 Sensor2 for some nice $$.
Thant IPD cam locking tool is paying for itself.
I did an oil pan o-ring replacement and pick-up tube cleaning last week on a V70XC and it runs so quiet and smooth now.
Funny, I buy a 1998 S70 GLT and start fixing all the usualities, and now eveyone wants me to fix thier Volvo!
