99 S80T6 Charging problems

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

99 S80T6 Charging problems

Post by chaze1385 »

Have read about battery causing some kind of magnetic field. Which could be causing the weird hard starting and sometimes charging sometimes not problem.
Sometimes i just get tick, tick, tick, when i turn the key. Everything else works fine. Jump it and it will start.
Sometimes cranks perfect.
ANd sometimes it just cranks slow like battery is getting low. Turn key off then immedietelty crank again it will sound like it has about 15volts. Really Fast.

Thinking about running a better larger shielded power cable from battery to front of car. Add more better grounds here and there.
Ideas!!???
How about a good schematic for this damn car anyone?

Never heard of the magnetic field thing.

You probably have bad/corroded connections or a bad ignition switch. Try cleaning all the connections and make sure the bolts/nuts are tight.

There's no real "good" wiring diagram, but you can buy a copy of Volvo's VADIS from Ebay that has their diagrams in it. They're difficult to read but can usually get the job done. I bought mine from a guy in the UK. It cost about $15. http://cgi.ebay.com/VOLVO-VADIS-SERVICE ... .m63.l1177
.

SOLD - 2001 Volvo S80 T6: Mobil 1 Oil & Synthetic ATF, Brake Performance drilled and slotted front rotors, Akebono Euro Ceramic pads and Yokohama Avid V4S tires, 91K miles.

One place I read about the Magnetic FIeld [url]http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks. ... -6.htm/url]

Battery: A magnetic field is created because the battery is located in the trunk and the positive battery cable is routed through the vehicle. Swedish owners who complained were offered a repair kit. (1999-2000)
