S40 2002 Horn broken

Post by mytyvolvo1 »

I have a newly acquired 2002 S40 (1.9L 4cyl Turbo 5A), and there was a time when the horn worked periodically at best, but now it does not work at all.

The fuse is fine, but I don't know if an electrical malfunction could make this happen. How do I test for this?

If it is in fact the horn itself, can I replace this easily?

Thanks

You can test for 12 volts at the horn using a voltmeter or a multimeter. Disconnect the plug from the horn and have someone press the horn button whilst you check for voltage.

The horn may be faulty, not unknown or you may just have a bad connection.

Replacing the horn itself, if faulty, is an easy job.
