S80 Year 2004 Lost of Coolant!

Post by Jonathan Loh »

Hi, I am writing from Singapore:)

I have a " big unsolved problem" with my S80 2.0T year 2004. 3 weeks ago, the radiator/hoses / expansion tank were replaced. After collecting my car from workshop, after driving for a few days the warning light appeared " Coolant low" and I have been topping up every morning. At first I thought it was maybe due to some leakage or " air lock" in the system! This morning I returned to my workshop they checked through all hoses, no trace of leakage! They even carry out a " Pressure test" from the expansion tank. it was 2 bars and no drop in pressure.

Still I found coolant lost.......

I have done a check later today evening e.g. exhaust no white smoke, dip stick did not find any " milky" lub oil.

Please advise what could be the possible cause! I really need to settle this problem. Thanks

Would a faulty radiator cap possibly cause the problem? And maybe only after the engine heats up?

I heard some say it might be head gasket leak, but the question is I don't find any water in the lub oil and isn't any white smoke found. Is really a big headache:(

Today, I have no choice just to get the engine top overhaul and replaced the gasket. Now my pocket burn a big hole :) it cost me S$1600.00
