XC-90 Fuel Pump
XC-90 Fuel Pump
I have a 2003 XC-90 that needs the fuel pump replaced. I have the pump but I cannot locate the access panel to expose the pump. I was told that it is under the third row of seats, then the second row of seats. Where is the panel located? Do I need to remove any seats? Any tips on changing the pump?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
The access is under the second row of seats which need to be removed to get to it.
The attachments are from VADIS. The instructions call for the fuel tank to be drained but I have missed that part out. If you do want this post back.
Bill.

Thanks Bill. Do you have any suggestions on how to remove the pump? I found onlyone access panel on the driver side of the vehicle. There was no secondary access where the float is in the other tank. What tools will I need?

Of course Volvo make everything so that only their special tools will fit
.
The attached shows it is for the S80 but it is the same for the XC90.
Looking at the picture I am sure that something can be made/adapted to do the job. Failing that a piece of strong, flat plastic strip and a hammer would coax it into moving. Once it starts to move it should be possible to unscrew it by hand. This was the procedure I used on the 240, 740 and 940 pump collars and also on other makes of car.
