2002 S40 (1.9L 4cyl Turbo 5A) that has had trouble starting. It is turning and sometimes won't go all the way, while other times it will start right up depending on if the car has been sitting or driven. The check engine light came on that indicated the coolant temperature sensor. A mechanic told me that this was likely the problem.
Has anyone had success in replacing this themselves, or is this a good job for the garage? I am probably going to just replace the thermostat while I'm at it since it's local.
Does anyone have a schematic on this? If I buy the sensor and therm. on line, it might be cheaper...any good idea of where to get these bits before it gets too costly at the mechanic. $200 would get me both items replaced including labor, but I'd like to know if one can do this at home.
Thanks

It can be done at home. Just take your time.
