1998 V70 T-5....Blown Turbo Bearings

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

1998 V70 T-5....Blown Turbo Bearings

Post by jakub72 »

I would appreciate any help in figuring out where to go with this. I am currently living in Sweden and bought a 98 T-5 with about 110k mi on it. The bearings in the turbo are making a racket and it needs to go. I want to get the max performance for the buck and I need to make sure it passes the yearly inspection here as well. I have the option of upgrading the turbo without spending a ton of cash but am worried about the fuel delivery and engine health. I am planning on getting a tuned ecm/chip here anyways and only want to do it once.

Here's what I have done since I bought it....IPD parts of plugs and wires, MSD coil, Turbo control valve w/new lines, short ram intake, cap and rotor. The engine mounts are in the mail.

Where do I go from here?

I would get an 18T turbo for it and then have it turned. If you are running the stock ECU, you will be fine fuel wise until you get the tune done.
