ok my 850 rattles like crazy over small bumps, it is not the strut or strut mounts, they have been replaced, ball joints seem tight, the swaybar bushings and links have been replaced. only thing left are the control arm bushings or the sub frame mounts? the control arm bushings are bad but I don't see how they can rattle (removed them but got the wrong bushings so couldn't replace) is it possible the subframe can rattle? or anything else on this car I am missing?????? any ideas???

I KNOW IT IS NOT THE FOLLOWING...
struts
strut mounts
spring seats
swaybar bushings or links ALL THESE HAVE BEEN REPLACED

I would blame the control arm bushings seeing as how that's about all that's left. You may need a bushing press to get the new ones in, but I'm not sure. On MY '95 and newer, you have to replace the whole control arm :x . Anyways... the job of the subframe is to hold the engine and transmission in place. If it were the subframe, you'd have an unbearable amount of EXTREMELY rough idle and shakiness.

May sound crazy, but check your tires. If rattle is only on slow speed and tires are worn then that may a possibility. In this situation the rattle goes away at high speed. I was told a belt inside the tire is about to come off.

Tire replacement did the magic for me.

I am no expert just sharing my personal experience with you.

well I am replaceing the control arms this weekend and will see. I now it is not tires since I have studded snow tires which I take on and off as "needed" and no change in rattles.
