760 cooling hoses

Post by cbc »

760 v6 1989

I have to replace the large diameter cooling hose from rear of water pump underneath inlet manifold assembly.
I presume that the easiest way to get at this is to lift of the inlet manifols( after doing all the disconnections of injectors etc)

Any tips appreciated, I am in a programme of replacing all the hoses as they are deteriorating with age- I think most of them are the originals!

Any ideas on where to get this hose? short section but quite large diameter? or just use a suitable length of right size?

Many thanks

Chris

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Looking at my diagrams that hose runs from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump and is shaped so you would need to get the correct hose for the job rather than rely on "a suitable length of right size".

For reasonably priced Volvo parts in the UK try partsgateway. They don't supply parts but will send your requirements to several suppliers who will contact you with price and availability.

I wouldn't have thought you would need to remove the manifolds to replace the hose. It may be easier but a lot more expensive and time consuming.

Thank you for your reply, perhaps I miss- led which hose to replace, it was the short one ( about 3 inches and 45mm internal diameter from the twin feeder water piopes on each side of the vee under the manifold. I got a suitable length/D hose from a local source and removed/refitted the manifold etc in just over two hours, all seems well
Many thanks for your thoughts
