When I got my hands on it, the LCD illumination was dead, and I proceded to replace the bulb (which required desoldering and soldering of various components to get to) and replaced all other illumination bulbs as well. The only thing I should mention is that the volume knob is a little gummy, but this is pretty typical of many SC-816 units (like S/V70 switches).
I would think this is a good deal, since I took care of the illumination bulbs (including the hard to replace LCD one) and its a fully working unit (tested too).
