installing 3rd row seats

Hi all,

I've got a 93 940 and a 94 850T,
both wagons.

I was under the impression that one could easily add the 3rd row seat, but the local Volvo dealer folks said "aw heck naw" when I asked them -- they would not sell me a seat unless my car was made for the 3rd row.

What's up? Can I add the 3rd row or not?

And how?

I can't find any instructions on fitting these seats to either model but I have found that there are 71 screws listed in the parts for the 850 as well as all the other parts. My friendly Volvo tech tells me it is possible to fit the seats in either model as the necessary holes should be there although blanked off. It is quite a task to fit one and the dealers have to consider the safety aspect.
