Clock Resetting when starting car

Post by mcbeav »

I have a 1997 850 T Wagon with the trip computer. The clock resets itself every time I start the car. The rest of the trip computer functions work perfectly. Any ideas as to why this happens?

Thanks

Most car clocks have two power feeds.
One constant (Battery Direct)
and one that comes on with the key.
Sounds like your constant power isn't constant...

Checketh thy fuses!

My car does the same thing occasionally, but only once a month at most so I haven't looked into it. I would be interested to see what you find though, good luck

Has to be either a fuse or a bad connection to the back of the gauge cluster. I would check the fuses first because that would be much easier to get to.

The fuses look fine. The rest of the gauges all work fine. I guess I need to check the connection to the gauge package to determine about the direct link

Check, double check, and clean the battery terminals. You will need your radio code.

It is a fairly new battery but I cleaned the posts anyway. The owners manual does not list a fuse for the trip computer/clock. Any ideas as to which one it is?

Thanks

The battery was bad and it has been replaced but I still have the problem. Any ideas as to which fuse controls the clock?

Did you find the source of the problem? I just bought an 850 with the exact same problem.
