LOWER BALL JOINT
Could someone PLEASE help me , I'm trying to reseat a lower ball joint on a 01 xc70 and can't get the taper to lock tight enough to tighten the pinch bolt.Is there any tips anyone could give me to help me accomplish this . The nut is pretty tight I assume from rust but it can be tightened up about 3/16 to 1/4 inch before nut & washer actually contact lower control arm. Should I apply heat to nut & try to remove nut first to clean & neversieze the threads first or am I way off track ? Any input would be greatly appreciated . This is not my vehicle I'm doing this to help a good friend out , he doesn't have the money to bring it to the dealer his wife is pregnant and this is really unsafe for her . I would really like to help but I can't really understand what your issue is. Perhaps a picture, or try rewriting.
I do a fair amount of charity work too so I am sympathetic to your cause.
