Transmission problem

I recently bought a used S80 and now the transmission will not go into reverse. The forward gears work fine but reverse will not engage. Is anyone familiar with this problem and, if so, what are my options?

Carry a large inflatable car with you to keep people from parking in front of you.

Seriously, you might try to move the shifter slowly around the reverse position to see if the linkage/adjustment is off.

Unfortunately, transmission problems are not uncommon and usually pretty costly for this car. Hope it's something simple.

You might be able to see if the linkage is off by putting it in reverse, and looking up at the screen. Does it say R? Or P or N?

I'm having a similar problem. Mine will go into reverse, but if I try to accelerate, it slips. It only happens on reverse.
