radio security codes

Post by volvo850-mike »

Hello...I'm a first-time Volvo owner (1995 850 turbo) and I need some help....

The radio/CD changer i discovered has a security code. There wasn't anything in the vehicle with the code on it so I emailed a Volvo dealership and sent them some proof of ownership. Anyways, the code they sent to me didn't work. I entered it and it said "r P t" I tried it a few different times with the same results.

The only thing I can think is that the radio isn't the original. It is a Volvo factory radio though the car was involved in a flood back in 1997 and was salvaged and rebuilt and maybe the radio was replaced back then.

Anyways....how can I find out the correct code? Would there happen to be a serial # on the radio itself that they could use to look it up? Please also keep in mind that I'm nowhere near a Volvo dealership so I was hoping to find someone to help me via email or regular mail (the dealer who gave me the code said I'd have to bring the car in to them) Sorry for the long ramble and thanks for any help! Mike

Thats the problem...I don't live near any Volvo dealer. Could anyone on here recommend a Volvo dealer who may be able to help me via the internet?
