Post by BanditXJ »

Hello all,

Just wanted to hey, and get yalls opinion on a car.

There is a high probability that i will be purchasing my first volvo this week: a 1980 242 turbo 5spd. this is what i know:
1980 Volvo 242
motor from 94' B230

electronic fuel injection- with computer adjustment

are there issues i should be aware of/ look out for? hes asking $2k. thanks in advance!

First thing I would want to see is the service records on it. If he was a DIY do it yourselfer he should have recorded oil changes and so forth and a good maintenance history. Volvos are good cars as long as they are not neglected. If the price is right NADA private seller, whats the miles on it.?

there are 160k on the car, and only 60k on the engine.

from what i gather he more of a do it yourselfer, but he builds engines in his spare time, so i like to think i can trust him.

If he is the one that put the engine in I wouldn't worry about everything else. If he can build a engine he knows the rest of the car too.
