classic early XC axle issues.

I have a noise ever once in a while, at first I was thinking maybe a loose shroud but now it seems to be more of a clicking making a sound like when a card is on a bicycle spoke when the car is coasting when brakes are applied it subsides, the faster the car is going it da dat da dat da dat (faster sound) I work on my own car with my step dad even though he is not a volvo fan he has helped me with the four I have owned, I had a reply that said it sounds like it maybe "classic early XC axle issues" I can only find the "Ivadis" online manual thing which seems very expensive can anyone give me more info. about the axle issues I may be dealing with, and / or diagrams from manual or any other info., etc. Thanks just a girl trying to cruise!

If it's a great deal more pronounced (Click Click Click) on tight slow turns, it might be your cv joints, which are comparibly a far cheaper, quicker fix than the bevel gear, which is really the Classic XC Bevel Gear Problem.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Matthew, the problem is when your just go under light power or coasting any speed. I tried the the slow parking lot turns to check for CV when I frist got the car and it sounded good. So, I should investigate the bevel gear, can you tell me what to look for as the problem. Do you know if I can pay for the three days of Ivadis and copy the manual for personal use?

I can't comment on vadis because I don't know anything about it. I believe looking at the bevel gear would require a great deal of work. Unfortunately I can't give you more to go on with your identification of the problem besides this http://brickboard.com/AWD/?id=860676 .
