1999 volvo s80 r/r window regulator

My right rear window stopped working,when I activate window button Ihear a soundfromthe door ,sometimes it goes down,but will not go up. I removed the door cover and found the cable is partly unwound and was wondering if something broke to have that happen ,and can that be repaired or do I need to look for a new (used ) assembly? Please help......
