My S70 stalls

Post by mp20748 »

I've had my S70 for a little over a year. I purchased it from a neighbor who got it from an auction.

Initially it needed a ABS module, and that's when I found this sight and repaired the one in the car. It also had a few other problems (PCV, brakes, etc) that were solved thanks to reading this forum.

My biggest problem was me getting the clutch replaced and when the mechanic broke the housing assembly that holds the external clutch slave unit. I then had to replace the entire transmission, but went with a later year transmission and internal clutch. Because of this problem, it set for almost 6 months.

Once the clutch and transmission problem was solved, I found myself really liking how this vehicle performs. Tightest riding vehicle I've ever owned. And It was fast, but the best performance improvement came after I used a can of Seafoam yesterday. The only odd ball thing I noticed (other than the ton of smoke) was there was smoke coming from the turbo when the seafoam was going into the vacuum hose. It all cleared up later. And during my post seafoam drive, I noticed that the the RPM gauge increased when idling. It now idles at 1K. Before it was somewhere near 6K and 7K.

The other thing I noticed is a huge increased in performance when I floor it and go thru the gears. It's almost like driving a different vehicle.

The only problem I now have is when running thru the gears at higher RPM's, it stalls in second. It seems like it's not getting enough gas. And I've already changed the fuel filter.

This car is really fast now, and I'm thinking it may be best to leave things as they are now. It's more than fast enough for me, I'm more concerned if there's something broke or will get worse as time goes by.

I've owned a lot of fast cars and still own a special package Chevy with a 350 engine in it. But there's something really special about this S70 T5.

I would take a look at your spark plugs, they may have become fouled up from the seafoam if the engine was really dirty.
