8 or 16 valve?
8 or 16 valve?
Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here and just got me 89 4 door sedan 740 turbo. How can I tell if I have a 8 or 16 valve engine?

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) will give you that information.
An example VIN is YV1 A X 44 X K 1 000000. The figures in red denote the engine. On your VIN plate the numbers 69 = B280F; 87 = B230F + turbo; 88 = B230F; 89 = B234F.
The B234F is 16 valve.
