Lubegard HFM definitely won't do anything if the transmission is not engaging at all.

I was at the edge of buying a factory-refurbished Volvo transmission, but then read a few feedbacks that they are so-so and don't live much. Decided to spend about the same money on a quality rebuild, since I can keep under control most of everything. Advise: buy a new GM valve body, don't mess with refurbishing your old one. GM VB is made by Aisin.

For how much, $500? If you are mechanically inclined and have a cherry picker, you can put in a $500 donor transmission and sell it for lot more $. Especially it's a FWD car, and you don't have to mess with the drive shaft and transfer case.

Depending on your gearbox, changing filter in an Aisin requires that you take the transmission apart. If you have the gm box it might be different.
