That's interesting we have spiders that live in the side rear view mirrors in the summer.454cid wrote: ↑29 Dec 2022, 11:56 Assuming you're not trying to fill a full tank, it's got to be a venting issue. I've had that happen on a GM work van. On the van the whole evap system was under the vehicle next to the tank, and the official word from GM was that "spiders" would nest in some hole and plug it up. I think it was just a poor design given the location. Thankfully my truck has the more traditional setup with everything under the hood.
I have no idea where things are located on the P80 Volvos. I'd starting looking at lines, valves, whatever in the evap system if someone else doesn't come along and provide something more specific.
A little bulb grease or brake grease around just inside of the mirror case and they hate it so dont hang out there anymore.
It's not just my car either it's other cars in the driveway also.
The bulb grease or brake grease lasts a very long time and it only takes a very thin coat. Spiders dont like to walk on some surfaces or items because they can taste with their feet and they dont like some tastes (ha ha). I think they also dont like surfaces they cant get a good grab on either, the grease is probably like a sheet of slick, wet ice to us.
