Oh ok sounds like maybe i should bring the air box into the house for inspection and work on the thermostat?

I should be able to measure the temperature you were talking about at some point if everything goes well. If my thermostat turns out to be working, then maybe sooner than later.

You think it would be enough to measure the temperature it starts to close the little flap?

Oh and i should have thought of using Kaplar tape on the metal hose, it's the end close to the air box anyway so probably not as hot.
I wonder how hot the end at the exhaust manifold gets.

That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Good luck with that Al! Weather here is currently snowing. Typical weather forecasters here. Don't know their ass's from their mouths as the proverbial comes out of both. Today was forecast last night as clear and 4C. Planned a junkyard run as only decent day this week before the -15C weather hits again on Friday for the foreseeable future.

Any idea when this changed. My 96 is like that too.

Vacuum line? I used vinyl air line for my fish tank 8) (Until I removed the system),

We should write up a quick FAQ on this system

Engine vacuum
White hard line to air box
Thermostat in air box
White hard line down to air box motor

Without vacuum, what is status of air box motor?
Does thermostat open to provide vacuum or close to inhibit vacuum?
What temperature does it open or close ?
Is it digital or does it ramp vacuum to control temperature

I would gladly help but have no NA air system stuff other than the flexi hose to the exhaust manifold.

Consider yourself lucky ha ha.

I guess your weather is worse than ours here in lovely NJ ha ha.
It was raining all day today though. I never mind the rain except when i have to go out, or work on the car.
