Hi Steve,

I'm in Central Jersey, about 25 miles from Long Valley. That might be a little too far if there is a problem.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

P80 parts really aren't that expensive (at least not anymore). I've been working on a Ford and a Subaru, and after spending $80 for a store brand ball joint and an eye watering $350 for rear pads and rotors (not good ones), I can't wait to buy more Volvo parts.
Hi,

I am in Central Jersey, not sure where that garage is located.

$150 for a tow , easy drive and Lyft back home for running repairs.

My new best friend Indy is a 20 minute walk from my house , even faster if I load my folding bike and roll home. These are the guys who dropped my axle and tank for a fuel one repair in 4 hours on the Kat, S70 AWD

Hi Steve,

$150 well they took $100 for less than 2 mile tow around here so not sure how much they would charge for the next 50 miles.

Wow sounds very nice, lucky to have it that close by.
There are still a couple places around here left for me to check out. I'll have to see what they charge I guess.
One neighbor has experience with one garage, they charged $300 for fuel line replacement on 2000 Mustang. Not sure if that is fair or not. They have towing but I think only to their garage, about 2 miles from here. Haven't been there myself yet though. I was thinking if i could make it to next year then take it in for some work. I won't need inspection for another year now.

Another neighbor started an inquiry to his brother that can get used cars at reasonable price. They got a 1998 Buick for $1500 about a week ago. Looks good too, very clean, interior very good looks like new. 150k.
Waiting to hear back from him now. Should i get another Volvo? (haaaaaaaaaaa).
One thing for sure, nothing under year 2000 for me next time, if there is a next time.

Maybe i'll just break down and buy a Tesla. That's after I win the lottery (ha ha).

This!!! It's so cheap when you do the math.
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Hi Steve,

I have AAA but only their 5 miles tow plan, but they take a long time to get here around this area.

Just thinking.....If Volvo provides free towing to a dealer, as long as they do the repair, then at what point does the cost of repair being done by a dealer vs an indy, outweigh the cost of the tow. Will the dealer charge $ 150 more than the indy for the same repair ?
And yes, I have AAA. But I could see some cases where having it towed to the dealer would be a better deal.
Broken down, 200 miles from nowhere, 300 miles from a dealer, and just need an alternator. Hmmmm.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.
