I'm considering selling my 2000 s70 T5m, and was wondering how sought after these cars actually are. I know there were only 75 imported, and I'm just assuming that only half are still around (probably less?). The car is in good condition for it's age, has 150,000 miles, and is a completely unadulterated stock vehicle. I'm the second owner and have used Mobil 1 exclusively, it runs absolutely perfect.
Is there a demand for these? I only want to sell if I can get what I believe it's worth (not KBB), which is somewhere north of $4000. Thanks for your input.

If if runs as well as it looks, the AC evap is fine and the clutch is newer, then 4K sounds fine

What's the difference between "what it's worth" and what buyers will pay for it? It's probably $4000 well-spent to a buyer, but you'd have to find someone to actually pay that for it to be worth that much.
$4000 seems kinda high to me, but I'd probably buy it at a high price if I were looking. List it on a Volvo forum if you want that price. Someone will recognize that a good history and enthusiast owner are worth spending on.

For a 1999 you could get 4500-5000 if the ETB and timing belt are up to date - selling to a Volvo enthusiast obviously.
Jim caught the clutch and AC, which are $2000 and $1000 plus jobs, respectively
I have a standing offer of 3500 from my local Volvo guy for mine and it isn't perfect (strong engine, but 20 years of family hauling takes it toll)
The Bastards (1999-2000) don't lend themselves too well to tunes, but you don't need one with a T5M

I think there could be a big difference between what I believe it's worth and what someone would be willing to pay. That's all I was saying. There is very little difference between the '99 and the 2000 models themselves and they are subtle changes inside the engine. They are essentially identical.
The '99 and '00 cars are, however, very different from the '98 models although looking exactly the same. The 1999 model year was the first year for the electronic throttle body engines that carried on after 2000 in the "P2" series cars. The 1999 model year was also the first year for the CAN bus control systems that marries everything on the car through software packages. The extended reliance on computers to run everything is a double edged sword. When it works it works great but when there are problems it can get expensive fast since there is a software download (dealer only) that is required to make the car work properly again. The biggest pain is the anti-theft features that are coded into the keys and the remotes.

Beware the "endowment effect" -- the behavioral economics phenomenon of ascribing more value to things simply because we own them. That having been said, it looks nice.

Oh and I put over 5k cad into this car total, purchase price + fixes. Alot of people think im quite crazy lol its not even a fast car
