The tunes are slightly different, between the manual and the auto ECUs. The main thing is if the ECU will be looking for a TCM or not. If it tries to communicate with one that isn't there, it will give you a CEL.

The Motronic PDFs are available HERE. At the end of the M4.3 one is a list of most of the turbo ECUs (It's a mix of Euro and US spec stuff).
I say "most" as I know the US-spec T5 HPT auto ECU (-072) isn't listed on there, but those are the ones I've pulled from 96-97 cars (and ones I've stuck a stock -628 bin on before).

When I compare the bins (as best I can in TunerPro or MS) there are minor differences in boost control, timing, and sometimes VE maps.

That listing on the end of the 4.3 was helpful, but interestingly it does not include the 072 module? He has a possibly 0628, a 072 and a 549.

I have also found he has 2 modules that are from what look like 98 V/S/C 70 T5 turbos 0261 204 450 and 607

Quite the collection as you don't often get P80 turbo T5's of any version in the yards over the last several years!

Appreciate the help.

Those 98MY ECUs are some of the good ones for flashing the M4.4 stuff.

Pretty sure the -072 shows up in the Motronic binary files I have, but the M4.3 stuff isn't as sorted as the MY98 M4.4 is for DIY tuning.

Thanks. It is now up to him to find homes for the parts! I have done the hard 'donkey' work sorting, ID'ing and part numbering the parts as well as finding new prices so he can figure out selling prices.

Only problem is he says he has more parts...................
