I will be ordering the new CHRA once I get the turbo off, which might be next weekend depending on how my schedule aligns. Luckily, I have a motorcycle and another vehicle that I can drive. Unfortunately, my wife needs the garage to charge her Chevy Volt in so I can't occupy the space for too long!

I also have to replace the AC condenser as it has a hole in it (I've watched it) and leaks out all the refrigerant. I've read conflicting reports on the removal of the AC condenser, as in you can remove it alone by removal of the front bumper and some other items or the other angle where it has to be dropped from the bottom in an assembly along with the intercooler and radiator.

Do either of you have experience or knowledge about this job as well? Thank you again, enjoy the last of the weekend!
if you can do it by removing the bumper that would be simpler. See vida for the best direction.

Just wanted to give an update, not hit and run like most people do when asking for repair info.

I’m still in the process of getting parts to do this repair but I just got my CHRA in from the UK this morning.

I ordered direct from Turbo Rebuild Limited’s site in the UK.

It cost me $199 shipped to Illinois instead of $250 on eBay for the same Melett CHRA.

I’m ordering all the other gaskets and lines I might want to replace while I’m in there. Think I’ll start next weekend. I’ll keep you guys updated.

it looks like its fwd, if so it will be very simple swap compared to awd.
Later , run some Cataclean through the gas tank to burn out oil residue from the CAT.

80K miles is literally nothing, i bought mine at 174K, so yours is well worth maintaining.

I'm dumbfounded as to how the turbo would be bad at only 80k? Highly doubt that's the issue.

If you don't mind me chiming in. I'm trying to pull the turbo out of a 2006 S60 2.5T AWD.

I've got all three banjo fittings and the drain pipe disconnected. V-band clamp is off. Intake and charge hoses off, and the exhaust was off anyway.

It won't budge.

Have I missed a fastener, or is it likely rusted in place?

it can't really rust , its cast iron to alum.
possible a bit of oil got baked in the seam, try a dead blow.
the two halves are aligned with a steel pin, mine was snapped, try a knife in the seam between the halves.
also try 2 hands on the front alum section , pull and push up and down to jar it loose.

Even better, that makes it a possible galvanic cell. Mere rust would be less of a PITA.

I've got one. I'm afraid of damaging the turbo. Where should I be whacking it?

Or should I just be assuming I'll have to replace it, at this point?
