I believe it is improved practice to drive about 100 miles between drain/fill cycles. This will allow the fresh oil with high detergent to do some cleaning of the transmission and drain out the junk.
Because I had very hard shifts occuring, I decided to start with MaxLife ATF to do more flushes and cleaning. I found this was not a good idea after learning Maxlife has viscosity of 5.9 cSt at 100 C and Mobil 3309 has viscosity of 7.1 cSt at 100 C. My shifting initially was better as I replaced old Mobil 3309 with new MaxLife. But, as the percentage of Maxlife increased the average viscoity dropped and shifts became harder again.
I have now made 9 drain and fill cycles. Every drain appears a bit more clear. New Mobil 3309 is at about 93 percent and viscosity 7.0 cSt. My plan is to do two more drain/fill cycles to get to near 96 percent new 3309 and then add Shudder Fix.
Others may disagree with my plans.

It really is a matter of personal comfort and experience with the condition of one's own transmission. Whether stretching out the process and using more fluids or all at once. Yet to have seen a post on the various methods and nuances of each method causing issues.

Yes, it is a fluid additive for auto transmissions. See this link:
https://www.lubegard.com/products/isf/
Most of the car parts store sell it.
vtl talks about it in this post:

I have not used it before, but have two Oz. ready to add when I finished drain and fills.

On the subject of Lubeguard, I used Platinum as the sales rep recommended it, but I cannot say it made a difference for me. So possibly Lubeguard HFM is the better alternative.
