"Heater core replacement can be eventful with driver seat in place" Eventful! :-) Love this term, under dash repairs with the seat in place
compares well to medieval torture levels of pain. Removing the seat is well worth the extra effort if spending any amount of time under the dash.

Here's what under dash repair pain inspired me to do for another upcoming under dash repair. I also now remove the seat every time.

Alternatively, I would raise the driver's side on a floor jack as high as possible. Protect my knees and use cat-camel stretch to do the service. -- taking break and patience where needed.
