Overcooling 1998 S70 t5

I ended up just getting the blue box off ipd, I would have gotten it first so I didn't have to do all this silly stuff but I don't think it was in stock back when I got this round of parts. For now just been driving with my scanner next to me watching, when I get the part in a few days I'll do some testing and update on if a solution was found.

Take some long leads and hook your Ohm meter to the sensor then solve for the temperature.

T_Celsius = (1 / (0.001241271 + (0.0002721895 * log(R)) + (0.00000009265758 * (log(R))^3))) - 273.15

Took me a while to get to doing it, and only had 30 minutes to do the job so I didn't get to do much testing but seems as if though the meyle sensor was faulty. Sits right at temp with the new Volvo one and the fans kick on much earlier. Every once in a while it dips down momentarily after getting throttle but my guess would be some small air pockets as I didn't get much time to bleed it properly so I'll resolve that.

For future reference if anyone has this overcooling issue, Id say it's most likely it's a stuck open thermostat, especially if it's getting cool while driving and heat through the vents is lacking. Easy cheap fix on this car, just make sure to bleed properly after.

If it says it's cool while driving, yet coolant is overheating or boils over with no fans kicking on at idle. Most likely there is added resistance in the coolant temp sensor circuit, most work with a negative themistor so more resistance makes it think it's cooler. Likely a coolant temp sensor needs replaced though it may be elsewhere in the circuit. Test resistance at the sensor using the info above before if you want or just slap the part in and hope. Id say don't risk getting a cheap one unless you wanna go through the mess I did.
