I bought a V70.3 D5 that gets twice the mileage of what my 96 R gets. Not quite as loud and fun, but what a phuntastic ride...

I think there was a debate on oil life span on the shelf. I guess in theory the additives might break down in the oil, but then if it is kept sealed and therefore not getting oxygen (air) into it + no heat cycles, why would it break down??
Now a part used open canister of oil or brake fluid is a different thing. Those I won't use unless close to the time they were open.
