Okay, I'm still alive...just been awfully busy with other obligations lately.
My $.02 is that no matter what rotors you use, if you go with OEM pads, you're not going to get the squeaks so bad, but you will get the dust. I can live with the dust over the squeaks.

dasapir...I would not do the bearings unless they need to be done. Besides, there is no repacking them....you just have to replace them. As far as Akebono, I've heard good things...maybe you won't develop squeaks down the road...keep us updated.

I too used the Dot Blue fluid....it's nice because it's easy to flush when the color changes...next time I'll use the auburn fluid!

Good luck on the TB, Serp Belt, etc. I just had that done 2K miles ago...no issues! I would have done it but I was in Japan and was too busy...my mechanic did it while I was away and that gave him plenty of time to go over the car with a fine tooth....

I did not know about not being able to pack the bearings, thank you.

I used the bluedot ate specifically for the reason you mentioned, easy to see when the color changes and I thought the amber color would be more difficult. If flushing again, by again changing colors would facilitate knowing when the new brake fluid is flushing through.

Sounds good to me. What did the parts and bleeder cost?

For the brakes and the motor mounts, which I did at the same time, I purchased everything through FCP Groton, though I did search other sites and looked into other rotors and pads, it was my overall impression that Brembo non-slotted, non-holed rotors and the Akibono ceramic pads were as good or better for general all-around use. The Akibono European pads have the shims alreay rivited in place and they come with a small packet of graphite brake lube, to be applied as directed.

According to technical support at Akibono after using the brakes for a short while there is also an adhessive on the inside of the shim which will bind the shim to the pad, in addition to the shim being rivited, thereby further decreasing the incidence of brake noise. The prices at FCP are competitive and they are wonderful to deal wtih so....

The prices are on the FCP Groton web site for everything including the brake fluid power bleeder. I would check the Motive website though since there are various attachement depending upon which car you choose to bleed. In other words, if you have various models then there are universal caps to fit other models and this maybe worth your while. FCP only offers the european car attachement.

BTW, the reason I like this power bleeder is that its is forward positie pressure and one does need to be concerned about sucking or entraining air from the bleeder nipples as with others that create a vaccum at the
caliper. I bled the brakes at 15-17 PSI.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reponse. I generally get my parts from FCP or eeuroparts. Brembo's and ceramic pads, I'll give it a shot.
