after trying a number of things I gave up and took it to the dealer. According to the dealer need to replace the whole unit with the motor, tracking unit etc at a cost of about $600 and therefore decided to do nothing.

Pulled the glass all the way up and disconnected the motor.

I know its been 5 years since this topic was brought up, but the lack of information on this common 850 problem bothers me. How to replace powered window regulator motor track channel. how do you fix volvo 850 glt powered window regulator motor track channel. Volvo 850 window out of alignment.

My window has done the same thing twice now. The first time I paid 450$. It isn't just the volvo 850 window Track/Channel 9 times out of ten its actually from the window regulator being bent or having a broken weld. Do not go to a repair shop until you have a look yourself. A whole regulator and motor is only around 30 dollars in the U.S... Now a new window regulator costs around 240$ without a motor. Parts for any Imported European cars in the U.S. cost a fortune. My Volvo parts cost around the same as Mercedes from the same year. Even if you don't want to put it in yourself you have to shop around and get parts yourself or your just throwing money away. Also the window regulator rollers go bad often.

I'll be attempting to fix it myself this time. And if I remember i'll post pictures. Im gonna make a youtube video. Also if anyone likes to, or would like to, save money by fixing their volvo's themselves go to youtube and search RSpi007. or go to this URL http://www.youtube.com/user/RSpi007
He has over 250 in depth videos on how to fix many common volvo problems. Robert is the 850 DIU Gurru
