Before I dismantle my car, do the N/A cars have the PTC nipple?

I have smoke blowing out the dipstick hole and have had for the entire time I've owned the car, including my PCV system complete replacement, including pipes/hoses. My 1994 model is a bit different than pictured above.

Neither of mine do. One is a '94 and the other is a '96 but I found out yesterday that the motor in the '96 is actually out of a '94 or '95.

MIJ, I called FCP Groton regarding the routing on their diagram and they said that the routing is correct if one has a turbo. Only if the volvo is non-turbo does the valve cover intake hose go to the the inner nipple on the PVC canister. For turbo models the hose goes to the outer nipple as their diagram shows.

According to FCP Groton, there is a different canister depending on whether the car is Turbo or non-turbo. In other words, it is not an all-or-none phenomenon.

Let me know if you find some thing different, especially since I have run the hoses as per FCP's diagram. (98 S70 GLT) That would be the same as your car!

Dasapir...I think they are wrong here. I looked at mine and I'm routed correctly for what I reported.

I will call volvo tomorrow, however, if their VADIS diagrams are also incorrect where is the final check.
Another question arises is that FCP Groton says that their diagram is correct for the turbo. When I ran a PCV request for non-turbo the diagram was as you describe, however, for the turbo it is, in fact reversed. So If I need to take apart the car again to reverse the hoses does FCP Groton share in some of the cost for a re-do? I fear I might need to re-purchase a new PCV canister if the fumes have been clogging the fresh air intake new manifold gasket and the pain of it all! :(

The final check is in pouring some liquid into a new one and seeing what flows out of the opening that would normally empty into the engine the quickest. To be honest, it appears that FCP may have changed their diagrams. In my case the routing I describe does just that. I'm not sure about yours personally, but from what those over at V.S. have said, what I describe is indeed correct (turbo or not turbo), it's always the connection closest to the engine block that is routed up to the top of the engine. I doubt that Groton will pay for anything...they will probably defer to Volvo's official documents.

Ya, I know. when I put the PVC back together I actually had it routed correctly. Unfortunately, I double checked with the FCP diagram and so here I is.

Just another unnecessary expense and a weekend redo. I may just do the gas tank at the same time.

BTW, do you think it possible to clean out the PVC canister since it has only been a year since I redid the system or just best to redo all of hoses and all?

Oh, I don't know. I would think that spraying plenty of something like carb cleaner into the oil trap would clean it plenty. Then I would get out and floor the car for awhile and let the car's normal vacuum system clean itself. If you want, you could add some seafoam into the oil trap and let it sit a bit before doing this...others have done this and seem to rave about it.
