Lighting gel is like a piece of cellophane. It is what they use over the stage lights to give the different colors.

I'd place it directly over the white part of the combination alarm LED/sun sensor unit--that's where the photocell. If you notice that that's too much attenuation, you can try Rosco #97 which is 50% transmission or Rosco #397 which is 70% transmission. You can try calling various theatrical lighting rental companies and see if they'll give you scrap--since you really don't need much at all. Yes, "gel" is a cellophane-like material (Rosco is 70% polycarbonate 30% polyester)--it's called that because up 'till about 1970, gelatin filters were used.MadeInJapan wrote:...where do you put the gel?
