Re: Vibration when idling 1998 V70 Base
No, the best place is not through the brake booster line, but through one of the lines on the vacuum tree- right under the throttle cover. You put it in a container (about 1/3 of the can) and allow it to be drawn or sucked into the intake- not poured either. I don't know why there is a lot of false information about pouring it into the brake booster. Anyway, this should be done on an engine that is warmed up, then after 1/3 of the can is sucked in, you let the engine die (it usually stalls) or you just cut the engine, then wait for 15~20 minutes. When you restart the car, there is an awful smoke bomb from the exhaust (all the carbon being burned out), so you drive it until the smoke is gone- and feel the difference!

One can was suck into the vacuum tree a 1/3 of a can at a time. The other can was put into a full tank of gas in the gas tank to clean the injectors. I used the method on the Seafoam website. I did not put any in the oil. I changed the oil after the treatment anyway just in case some seeped by the rings.

Well, that was wrong and you SHOULD have put it into the oil.sysdcm wrote:One can was suck into the vacuum tree a 1/3 of a can at a time. Then it goes directly to the cylinders.
I had a T5 with two cylinders that after we did a leakdown had 20 in both.
After Seafoaming, I had over 160-165 across the board!

Pouring it into the brake booster line comes from the Seafoam video. The tech doing the application pours (not sucks) it into that line. I think that is why the misconception is floating around.

Sounds like you put 1/3 of the can in the intake, burned it off, did another 1/3, burned it off, and then did the last of it. Don't see why that would be so bad. When I did my 850, I did about 1/3 in the fuel, 1/3 in and out of the engine quick and then the next day I did the other 1/3 in the engine, let it sit for a good hour-plus, and then burned it off. Ran so much better after that! Now I want to do my S60, but I haven't found out what/which vacuum hose to use yet...sysdcm wrote:One can was suck into the vacuum tree a 1/3 of a can at a time. I was trying to figure out what video you were talking about so I googled it - Sure enough, the guy pours it into the booster line.Pouring it into the brake booster line comes from the Seafoam video. I have had great results using the vacuum tree and slurping it in on the Volvos. On my daughter's Porsche the only place I had to introduce the product was through the brake booster line but I sucked it in rather than pouring it in. That video is setting them up for hydrolock issues and serious engine damage.

Thanks for the video, Lee.
I had not idea about all of the other Seafoam products.
I'm wondering if anyone has used their transmission cleaning product- I would personally be afraid to do so, but if my transmission was on the blinks, I might be tempted to, given that my other option would be a rebuild or a replacement.
The Bug-be-Gone, I was familiar with, but didn't know they were owned by Seafoam- certainly one of the best bug removal and washer fluid additives out there!
