Could it be the water pump?

My 1998 S70 GLT with 190K miles, radiator just cracked at the UPPER hose connection and leaked coolant.
Dealer replaced the rad around 2010 and at 133K or so, cannot believe the 2nd rad (Volvo OEM part) lasts only 7y/57K miles!
Or maybe the dealer never replaced the radiator but the invoice stated that, I don't know.

Quick question re brand name.
- Volvo OEM: $250.
- Nissens: $160

Are the "Nissens owners" happy?

Any advice re best bang for the buck?

PS: The reviews of Nissens rad at FCR are not very rosy!

When my OE radiator did exactly the same thing last year, I discovered the metal liner in the upper house outlet had slid outwards into the top hose allowing the upper hose outlet to be more flexible and crack.

I was going to replace with the OE one again, but ended up using a Nissens. I was a little worried as the previous ones I had had a flimsy upper hose that was hard to get to seal. The new one last year had a better design that had the out let pipe reinforced. I don't do a big mileage, but happy so far. Only thing is you have a 98 (mine is a 00) so it will have the trans and engine oil cooler inlets, so the design may be a little different.

My experience was my OEM radiatorvwent at 13 years and 140k miles, and the replacement Nissens went at 4 years/50k miles. Side seam from plastic to Al was failure point. I replaced with the same one as expected life of Car is about 5 years

Interesting fact about Nissens.

Installed a Nissens rad in my 1998 BMW 528i in 2006 @90k, I am now at 170k.

So for the BMW, my Nissens rad is now 11y/80k later and still bone dry.
