Replacing radiator on '98 S70 GLT
Replacing radiator on '98 S70 GLT
The radiator on my '98 S70 GLT is leaking from the lower corner on the passenger side. Can anyone give me advice on replacing it? It's an automatic so the trany lines connect to the radiator.

Mike,
The write up that Confused Al inserted is excellent! I used it when I did my wife's radiator on her 98 v70
Only "p.i.a" I found was having to pull the radiator from underneath... I had no help to hold the radiator when removing and installing but I used a 5 gal bucket as my support while doing and undoing the bolts etc...
I used snap ring pliers to undo and re-install the transmission cooling line clamps. When re-installing the clamps, make sure to use a plastic zip tie to help secure that clamp.

Not sure what mileage you have on your car or the history, but since you are already going to disconnect the colling lines, you may want to consider the transmission fluid flush.
I did it that same day
Good luck
Eric

Check the repair database for detailed instructions on the transmission flush. MadeInJapan posted an excellent writeup with good pictures. I think it is titled Modified Transmission Flush.

I replaced the radiator without too much trouble. After I replaced the coolant and fluids that leaked out, I started the car and it wouldn't idle or it idles roughly then dies. When I give it gas, it is fine then dies again when I take my foot of the accelerator. I re-checked all hoses and connections and it looks like everything is right. I tried driving it around the block and it seems to have good power with no hesitation. I think it must be a vacuum hose or something. Any ideas?
