Get your car and top it with Sunoco.Drive it and check the mileage, then get you wawa gas and run the same trip.Check your mileage.
The fuel additives are the only thing that make up the differace in brands of gas.
But the additives will determine the way the engine performs.
For what a can of octane booster will cost you can buy some real gas.

Try the Exxon before the Bp. See if your performance and mileage goes up.Bet it will.

Ok so I spent $18 on 104+ octane booster and fuel injector cleaner then another $22 on 8 gallons of premium from Exxon. Sadly the sound is still there and exoon has my money. Weak.

When i got home it was raining so i couldn't get under the car to tap the cat cover but i popped the hood and revved it (tb cover is off) while i searched out the sound.

Took me a while but I isolated it to the sound to the back side of the engine...somewhere around the turbo. I tapped on the shield with my flashlight but it seemed solid.

Think i could be hearing BAD shaft play?

bought an auto stethoscope today and tried it out. Still nothign concrete but its possible the sound may be coming from the tensioner.

Thoughts?

Which tensioner?

The serpentine belt tensioner will cause you anguish since when it gives up most of the idiot lights will suddenly illuminate and the AC will no longer work but it will cause no real harm. The timing belt tensioner or the timing belt tensioner roller, on the other hand, will cause much more anguish if it fails since it essentially means "Game Over" for the engine if it fails.

+1, The difference is life or death for the engine. If it ends up being the Timing Belt tensioner, get it fixed ASAP.

I'm thinking its the one at the top of the engine. You can see it move, near the thermostat.

Better to be safe and order it now.

You should be able to just buy the roller part of that if the tensioner is otherwise holding the belt taught.

Geez its been forever but hopefully someone else can use this.

Don't forget to tighten both screws holding that large metal "shim" on the side/bottom of the a/c compressor.

It will rattle under acceleration and drive you crazy :)
