using that and my vin YV1KS9609V111217, it seems like its w/o EGR, w/air pump. then what should P0401 mean? how to fix that?

I looked over new car training book I had on 96 and it listed EGR delete as one of the benefits of upgrading to Mot 4.4 engine management.
If you can't see a rusty tube pass behind block/head meeting line and turn and go under back of intake manifold then it does not have it. THe plumbing is not that well hidden.

I'd get code re-read. I'm thinking p0410 for secondary air system is far more likely. The check valve in the integrated check valve/shut-off valve on the tube on exhaust side of cam cover is anot too uncommon failure item.
Jim, you are correct, i read the code again and its P0410. So, removed the valve and its functional, the air pump to is working. but the steel tubing when pressurized with 45psi air the air went no where. I cleaned the tube which had oil and tried putting air pressure in the hole where the tube was getting inserted between the spark plugs.
1. is that hole supposed be free flowing and air expelled from oil filler cap or does it enter into the cylinder heads to be combusted.
2. can i clean the hole and see if some carbon build up is blocking?
3. do you think these questions need to move to SAS question threads?
