Thanks beatsmith, thats the best option for the 850/S70 models. My Volvo specialist did this for me for $10.00. It only allows it to shift from park without your foot on the brake. All other safety features remain. It started as an intermittent problem and finally stopped functioning. Anyone who gets in a vehicle and puts it in gear running without a foot on the brake shouldn't be driving. If you have small children, you should never leave them unattended in a running car. Anyway, these didn't exist prior to the 80's and I can't remember even once hearing about people suddenly flying down the street after putting their cars in gear before then. PS.It was mostly annoying when valet parking the car in large venues or hotel or hospital where I had to leave instructions every time I left and returned. The little things are the ones that get to you sometimes. One down, a few to go.... Love this site....

I'm not big on the whole safety nanny thing,
but this is a no-brainer. Just fix it correctly.
It's cheap, easy and already there.
