HA! I did remove that bulb.... I also removed the CEL while I was in there.

Fortunately before I re-assembled the dash, I plugged in the cluster to check that all the illumination lights worked. Two of the bulbs had to be jiggled to light up......Sure glad I discovered that before re-assembling everything...

Next project on the horizon is to re-install my EGR system....( I think?) A previous owner or tech removed *EVERYTHING* including installing a non egr intake and exhaust manifold. The vacuum module is still above the radiator and the lines are plugged.......I think this would explain a slight cyclical surge I have accelerating while the car is cold and not so great mileage?

I dont think later (96+?) 2.3 HPT`s had EGR...

Did someone actually do me a favor or should I reinstall everything?

Any thoughts?

There really is no set in stone year and model emissions crap when it comes to west coast (Originally California) cars. It all comes down to the emissions code on the product plate.

If you need to pass any kind of smog testing you will need to have the CEL light operative or chances are they will fail you. Thank God I'm in flyover country where they don't have any of that emissions testing crap. They only care if the car has a proper title that matches the VIN number on the car.

On a '95 the inspectors may cut you some slack since OBD-II wasn't officially the rule of the land until model year '96.
