Try Erie, top of the page, one of my MVS Sponsors. Or call around for a pick-n-pull salvage yard in your area. Some places around here even have a catalogued inventory of already-picked parts. Hawaii might not have many Volvos though.

yea, i looked on that erie page on ebay, didn't see one, but i sent him a message just in case. do you know what range of years will be compatible? does it have to be from an S40, or will any other models have the same regulator?

I just don't know enough about the 40 series to be able to answer that. It's obviously not the switch, so you're on the right track.

Just bump this topic once a day and someone will see it and know.

Ok, fixed it. I got a used one from erie volvo, shipped to hawaii for $115.

replaced it and all is well!
