When I replaced my ETM a few weeks ago on my 2006, I removed the fan. There was an electrical connection to the fan that I had to unplug. It was on the passenger side of the fan near the top. You would be likely to know if you unplugged yours but on unplugging the wires could drop down if you had not taken care to place them at the top front as a reminder, then forgotten to reconnect them after getting the fan in on top.
I was very pleased with my ATM replacement apart from not being able to disconnect the intake pipe between the intercooler and the ETM as I did not have any wrenches and there was no clearance for a nut driver for the pipe hose clamp at the intercooler. I just pushed the pipe down and out of the way at the ETM end.
In addition to the fan power connector, you have the engine coolant temperature sensor at the water pump thermostat housing.
However, I would expect check engine lights for either being disconnected.
The fan is electric, right?

As I schooled myself a few weeks ago, you need a pad of paper and ink to document your disconnects and fasteners o this car or you will spend 5x the time that process takes putting stuff back together.
