I have not seen the car yet, no. This info is all over the phone.

I asked why he rebuilt it, and he claimed "just because" and "ya know, gaskets and seals, just to keep 'em fresh".....this part worries me

The suspect body damage is quoted to be more "wear and tear/minor bumps and scratches"

I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow. Hopefully I can take it for a spin and get it over to a shop and have a look.
RUN AWAY.
the "just because" is just because he thrashed it and blew it up. I have a 93 850 and a 94, and neither car needs cv boots. Both are original as far as I know. This is a nightmare looking for a new place to happen.
Do not buy this car!

Our 1995 850 T5R has 200,000 and it has not needed a rebuild. My son's R has 150,000, and it is strong as ever. I think the rebuild part was because he had to do so. It doesn't make sense to spend so much time and effort on a car, unless you were going to keep it for a long time, which obviously he is not.

Good luck.

Sorry for all the fuss. Guy was way too flaky. He didn't want to let me take it in to get checked out, even with $1,000 in hand and my cousins honda keys.

Shame, it was cream yellow :(

Well, that's the final nail in the coffin. Too bad you had to put all the time into it, but it's best this way!

Is there a link to the ad you can post so we can all see the car? This is a sure sign of a shitty seller trying to unload his problem on you...

Unfortunately, it was a craigslist ad, and has been deleted. His name is Mark and he lives in Aurora (for what it's worth).

You did yourself a favor. There are many R's out there and a few cream yellow ones. I got one. I'm restoring it slowly. It runs like a champ. Keep looking.
