The magnetic plug from IPD fit my 850s first time with no binding. Since I never had an issue I never measured the length. I've had 4 850's and all had the IPD mag plugs with no install issues.

The short plug in your pic makes me think that you may have a pan with stripped threads and an oversized plug was used or a heli coil with short plug.
