My hands were covered in oil so I didn't take a pic, but the magnetic plug was tight via ratchet and still had close to 3/8 of an inch of threads showing - I figured I'd use the old one 'till I straightened it all out!toolmanjsp wrote:I've put a couple of the magnetic plugs in and the thread length is indeed a few millimeters longer than the original plug.

The short plug in your pic makes me think that you may have a pan with stripped threads and an oversized plug was used or a heli coil with short plug.
